Gold Medal Exhibition raises $423,500 for California Art Club

A total of $423,500 has been raised on April 7 during California Art Club's 106th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition Collector's Preview Dinner. During the celebratory dinner, the guests were treated into a merry cocktail hour along with a fabulous sit-down dinner.

Hundreds of artists and guests have gathered for the event including twelve of the Gold Medal artists recipients who went along sharing their valuable insights regarding their artworks. Other artists who took part during the nation's finest art exhibit include Peter Adams, Brian Blood, Thomas Blackshear, and Warren Chang. Also present are the renowned country artists Bela Bacsi, Scott L. Christiansen, William Stout, Ralph Oberg, Alicia Ponzio among many others."The Autry's dedication to sharing the stories of the people of the American West offers a perfect platform for showcasing the current works of the Club's artists, who are employing time-honored fine art techniques to provide a visual commentary on contemporary society, ranging from cultural and spiritual diversity to the changing landscape."Peter Adams, the California Art Club president has said during the event.

The Art Club's exhibit highlights contemporary traditional fine art which features impressive paintings and sculptures of varying genres which include:

  • Landscapes
  • Seascapes
  • Still Lifes
  • Figures

Remarkably un-themed, the art display encourages every artist to venture and take risks in creating their masterpiece. The exhibit also takes reverence in California Impressionism showcasing California's natural beauty celebrating the land and the lifestyle of sunny California.

A total of 200 extraordinary art display has graced the event. The signature highlight of the event was the Gold Medal Exhibition where innovative artworks of contemporary - traditional style were subjected before the scholarly art experts and museum professionals to help don the year's finest artwork selection. According to Peter Adams, this year there were 175 Gold Medal artists in the exhibit. There were also 235 sculptures and paintings. He also acknowledged several artists presentduring the event. Peter Adams remarked. "We also wish to recognize the generosity of our Gold Medal sponsors, without whose support the success of this exhibition would not be possible."

Elaine Adams was also very thankful to Amy Scott who is the Chief Curator of the Autry Museum and the director of Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art, Michael Zakian for the event.

Meanwhile, the Collector's Preview Dinner offers opportunity for the favored guests to view and buy the artworks prior to eventually opening up the exhibit to the general public on the 9th of April.
